EL KANEMI WARRIORS HANDS KANO PILLARS THEIR FIRST DEFEAT OF THE SEASON
EL KANEMI WARRIORS HAVE SECURED THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE VICTORY OF THE SEASON, AFTER DEFEATING SAI MASU GIDA 2-1 AT THE EL KANEMI SPORTS COMPLEX IN MAIDUGURI YESTERDAY IN AN NPFL MATCHDAY TWO FIXTURES.
The Borno Army had earlier defeated Akwa United in one of the opening of the season, matchday one in Uyo, in a late drama last Sunday before defeating Kano Pillars in a bad-tempered game played in Maiduguri with the assistance of Bello Kofarmata and Abdulrazaq Aliyu who helped their team to both find the back of the net and were also facing their former club.
El Kanemi were first to get on the score sheet, after Kofarmata put the host ahead with a decent strike in the 20th minute, but the visitors fought fiercely and they were rewarded with an equalizer through their Captain Rabiu Ali in the 45th minute to ensure that both teams went into the recess a goal apiece.
At the second half of the game, El Kanemi were by far the better side and their effort put them ahead again with 19 minute remaining, through Aliyu who found back of the net for the winner goal.
Although Borno Army were reduced to 10 men about four minutes to the end of the regulation period, after Kofarmata got a red card for a terrible foul on victor Dennis, they held on to the 2-1 lead stoutly to ensure that they are at the top of group B with six points from two games.
